DECATUR -- It was a rough night for Bulldog fans when Decatur played host to the Augusta Red Devils in the eight-man football contest at Bulldog Stadium Oct. 11. The Bulldogs found themselves on the losing end of the contest by eight touchdowns.

Decatur's opening drive moved the ball to the 10-yard line of Augusta. But, when the Red Devils' goal-line stand pushed the Bulldogs back to the 30-yard line on fourth down and long, Augusta stopped Decatur and took possession of the ball.

The Bulldogs were able to stop Augusta's drive short of the end zone and take possession at the Decatur 30.

With 3:23 left in the first quarter, Augusta scored its first touchdown on a pass from Corlionn Hardy to Amariyon Briscoe. Zackariah Mclucas attempted the two-point conversion but was stopped short. The Red Devils crossed the line again with 20 seconds left in the quarter on a quarterback keeper by Hardy. The conversion from Hardy to Drelyn Neal failed, giving the Red Devils a 12-0 lead.

Augusta hit three touchdowns in the second quarter on runs by Lemarc Ivy and two by Mclucas, plus a conversion, ending the half up 32-0.

The Red Devils continued to pound the Bulldogs throughout the third quarter, building a sizable lead on touchdowns by Hardy, and three touchdowns and a conversion by Mclucas, extending their lead to 54 points at the end of the third quarter.

A Bryson Funk to Sam Philpot pass at the Augusta 13 resulted in the only touchdown for the Bulldogs. Philpot tried for the conversion but was stopped just short of the end zone.

The Augusta Red Devils took the contest 54-6 over the Decatur Bulldogs who have yet to win a game this season.

The Decatur Bulldogs will be off Friday, Oct. 18, but return to action Oct. 25 for the big homecoming contest against the Quinton, Okla., Savages.
