Gentry appoints new Chief of Police

Stewart has served in the department since 2001 and as second in command since 2010.

GENTRY -- Clay Stewart, who has served as Gentry's interim police chief since May 31, was appointed Gentry's new chief of police by Mayor Kevin Johnston at Monday night's city council meeting in Gentry. Stewart has served in the department since 2001 and as second in command since 2010.

His entire department entered the council chambers at the close of the city council meeting to hear the mayor's appointment.

Stewart, motioning toward his officers and staff, said he had a great department and expected to keep the department moving forward in serving the citizens of Gentry.
