GRAVETTE -- Seven young ladies will be vying for the honor of being crowned Miss Gravette 2020 during the competition to be held this Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Gravette Civic Center.

Pageant organizer Da-Mayla Cowan said she is excited about the number of entrants in the Miss Gravette and Miss Teen Gravette contests, both of which drew seven contestants.

The contestants for these two pageants will really be the center of attention this year since competitions for all younger age groups have been canceled because of social distancing regulations. The two contests will be closed to guests, and the in-person audience will include only contestants, pageant judges, staff and members of the media. The competition will be live-streamed on the "City of Gravette -- Government" Facebook page, beginning at 2 p.m.

Contestants for Miss Gravette 2020 include Tabitha Crawley, 18, who will be a freshman at John Brown University this fall; Elizabeth Ellis, 17, who will be a senior at Gravette High School; Kinsley Hurtt, 22, who will be a senior at the University of Arkansas; Victoria Johnson, 20, who will be a junior at Evangel University; Kaitlyn Loyd, 20, who attends Career Academy of Hair Design; Ashlyn Newton, 18, who will be a freshman at Northwest Arkansas Community College; and Anna Wilkerson, 23.
