Pioneer bowlers earn all-conference honors

GENTRY -- The Gentry Bowling teams competed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the 3A-4A Conference match at Professor Bowl in Little Rock.

The Pioneer boys' team took third in the match, with senior Dane Mathews and freshman Landon McClees earning all-conference honors and being added to the all-conference team.

On the girls' side of the conference match, the Lady Pioneers took the number one spot in the conference. Senior Carissa Goessens led the entire field, earning a gold medal and the number one spot on the all-conference team with her three-game total of 632 pins.

Also earning their way onto the all-conference team were seniors Victoria Barnes and Madison Stanfill, as well as junior Ame Radford.

The 3A-4A Conference champions included Katrina Nelson, AnnDee Holt, Mya Feathers, Madison Stanfill, Carissa Goessens, Ame Radford, Victoria Barnes, Hideko Xiong and McKenzi Hancock.

Coach Kelli Deen-Mathews said she was proud of all the bowlers in the match.

"Each member of the team fought hard to help the Pioneers advance to the state match to be held at AllFam Bowl in Cabot on Feb. 12," she said.

The Pioneers will be competing in the 3A-4A state match, beginning at 11 a.m.
