School district asks parents, guardians to keep contact info current

GENTRY -- Following the events of last Friday afternoon, the Gentry School District is reminding parents and guardians of children in the school district to keep phone numbers and other contact information current so that they can receive any emergency alerts and messages sent out by the school district.

The school district published the following news release: "After experiencing severe weather last Friday afternoon, which included a lengthy tornado warning that occurred right at the end of the school day and the release time for students, we want to send you this reminder about the importance of keeping your contact information current with each campus office at which your child attends school. If your email address, home number, or cell phone number changes, please let us know so we can keep our notification system current. The Pioneer Alert System pulls new parent contact information and/or updated parent contact information from the campus offices every evening."

According to the release, the Pioneer Alert System is the primary mode of contact the school district will use to keep parents and guardians informed.

The district is also encouraging parents and guardians to save the following phone numbers in their cell phone contacts because announcement and notification phone calls will come from the numbers:

Negative lunch balances and attendance notifications will continue to be sent via text message and email. The district will also continue to use social media and local news stations.
