Holt resigns position on Decatur City Council

DECATUR -- Decatur City Council lost one of its long-time representatives on March 19. Citing failure by the city to act on pertinent issues, Robin Holt, who has served as the Ward 1, Position 2, alderwoman, tendered her resignation, effective immediately.

"I feel that the city's failure to act on pertinent issues within the city of Decatur is a direct conflict with my personal morals and ethics, as well as the general well-being of the health and safety of this city and the citizens within," Holt said. "I cannot, in good faith, continue on this journey at this time with the direction things are going in"(Holt's resignation letter).

Holt has served in the Ward 1, Position 2, seat for the past seven years. She is a long-time resident of Decatur and has lived in the Ward 1 area for 14 years.

"It is with great sadness that I am resigning after seven years of service to our citizens, but feel I am not in line with the city of Decatur's administrative agenda," Holt said.

Decatur Mayor Bob Tharp said he was saddened by the news of Holt's departure.

"Robin has served the citizens of Ward 1 well during the past seven years," Tharp said. "The council thanks her for her service to this community.

Currently, there are no plans to fill the Ward 1, Position 1, opening since the seat is on the November ballot.
