American Legion post to meet

Londagin-Hardcastle Post 159 of Gentry will host its monthly meeting on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Gentry Chamber of Commerce building (212 E. Main Street, Gentry). There will be a "bring your own brown-bag lunch" at 11:30 a.m. followed by the business meeting at noon. All honorably discharged veterans from all wars are invited to attend. Bingo night in Siloam

American Legion Post 29 will play Bingo at the Legion Community Hall (Siloam Springs Community Building) on Monday evenings. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Early Bird games start at 5:30. The regular games will follow. Everyone 18 and older is invited to join in the fun. There will be concession items for sale.

In-person Thanksgiving service canceled

The in-person Community Thanksgiving Service scheduled at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at First Baptist Church in Gentry has been canceled due to covid-19 concerns, but everyone is welcome to join in a live-streamed Thanksgiving celebration on the Facebook page of Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry, to be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. Special offerings may be given to the Gentry Ministerial Alliance on the Tithe.ly app or by mail to P.O. Box 116 in Gentry.

Gentry Lions Club donation drive

Members of the Gentry Lions Club are having a jacket and mittens donation drive. They are asking for new or slightly used items for elementary school students in the Decatur school district. Drop off locations are at the library and at the Decatur Ace Hardware store. The club will hold a meeting Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Gallery Cafe. All business owners and residents who are interested in helping others in their community are invited to come, meet and greet. Their librarian, Patsy, will be inducted as a new member. Library basket raffle

The Gravette Public Library is conducting a raffle for several themed baskets. A photo of each basket and its contents can be accessed on the library's Facebook page. Raffle tickets may be purchased through Thursday, Nov. 19, at a cost of $5 each or five for $20. Ticket holders may place their tickets in jars corresponding with the basket(s) of their choice. Drawing will be held at noon on Nov. 20. All proceeds will go help fund library programs. The library, located at 119 Main Street S.E., is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Thanksgiving event canceled

Gravette Church of Christ announced that this year's Community Thanksgiving Dinner is canceled due to risks associated with covid-19.

Benefit quilt raffle

The Gravette Fire Department is sponsoring a raffle of an 82x90-inch fireman-themed quilt with proceeds to benefit the annual Christmas for Kids campaign. Quilt tickets may be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. They are available at the city hall, the Gravette Public Library, the Gravette fire station or from any Gravette firefighter until Friday, Dec. 18. The winner will be announced Saturday, Dec. 19.

Gravette Christmas parade

The annual Gravette Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning at 4:30 p.m. It will travel through several residential areas so many residents can safely enjoy the event. The theme for this year's parade is "Merry and Bright" and trophies will be awarded for best use of lights, best use of theme and most festive. Winners will be announced on social media after the parade ends. Anyone wishing to sign up for entry in the parade should visit www.gravettear.com/christmasparade.

Senior Center food pantry

The mobile food pantry at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning at 10 a.m. Those interested are advised to arrive no later than 11 a.m. Food boxes are available for curbside pickup. Anyone with questions may call center director Melissa Provence at 479-787-5950.

Kiwanis Club meetings

Kiwanis Club meetings are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month at the Gravette Civic Center and are open to the public. Visitors are asked to wear a mask when arriving and until seated when physical distancing is not possible.

First Baptist food pantry

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the church at 479-282-6658.

Public library limited hours

Gentry Public Library is open for limited hours -- from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday -- and is offering curbside service every day. Email [email protected] or call 479-736-2054. The library catalog can be contacted via Atrium.

Gentry Christmas Parade canceled

Due to covid-19, the 2020 Gentry Christmas Parade has been canceled. An alternate event is being planned, according to the Gentry Chamber of Commerce.

GFA food pantry drive-through

GFA Pantry Inc. at the Gentry Assembly is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The pantry is drive-through only during the covid-19 pandemic. Clients are asked to call 662-727-5157 or email [email protected] for appointments. They then can pull up to the drive-through awning and someone will meet them outside and get them signed in and bring their food to their vehicle. This is until further notice.

Bella Vista Area Radio Club

The Bella Vista Area Radio Club is conducting virtual meetings on the first Thursday of each month via YouTube Live. In-person monthly license testing has resumed on the second Saturday of the month. All amateur radio enthusiasts and prospective hams are invited. Meetings of the Gravette Public Library advisory board are held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library. The library is located at 119 Main St. S.E. All meetings are open to the public.
