GENTRY -- Sophomore quarterback Ty Hays hit Dillon Jarnagan with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes as Gentry rallied to defeat Lamar and picked up its first win under new coach Justin Bigham.

Hays and Jarnagan connected on a 60-yard touchdown pass to pull the Pioneers (1-1) within 27-20, then the two connected on a 9-yard pass on fourth down with a minute remaining.

Hays then added the two-point conversion run to put Gentry ahead after Lamar was called for pass interference on the first attempt.

The Pioneers' defense then forced a three-and-out to preserve the lead.

Hays, one of 10 Gentry sophomores to start, completed 17 of 20 passes for 183 yards in the win. Jarnagan finished with eight receptions for 117 yards.

The Pioneers travel to Stilwell, Okla., on Friday to take on the Stilwell Indians at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game.
