Area teams participate in Lion Invitational

GRAVETTE -- Some of the best 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A athletes from Northwest Arkansas gathered at Lion Stadium in Gravette Thursday night for the 2021 Lions Invitational Track Meet.

Fifteen boys teams from Farmington, West Fork, Lincoln, Prairie Grove, Elkins, Providence Academy, Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy, The New School, Huntsville, Pea Ridge, Shiloh Christian, Siloam Springs, Gentry, Decatur and host Gravette all joined 13 girls teams to usher in this year's event.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic which shut down all high school sports on March 13, 2020, and the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, the event was canceled last year. Now it is back, thanks to the efforts of track coach Jana Hardgrave and the many coaches and student-athletes at Gravette middle and high schools.

Because of the number of athletes participating in each event, the following results cover only Gravette, Gentry and Decatur.

GIRLS

100 Meter Dash: 22 Timmie Betz-Gravette 15.87.

200 Meter Dash: 4 Charlie Qualls-Gravette 28.70, 7 Kaitlyn Lykins-Gravette 29.70, 8 Mikey Larson-Gravette 30.03, 9 Jaelen Waangard-Gravette 30.26, 12 Abbigail Edgmon-Gravette 30.79.
