WESTSIDE --The Decatur Bulldogs started the week of April 12 at the number one spot tied with the Green Forest Tiger in the 3A West conference race. That changed April 13 when the Bulldogs traveled to Green Forest to challenge the Tigers for that number one spot in the 3A West poles.

It was a tight match as the Tigers grabbed the lead in the first half. Decatur scored in the second half but it would not be enough as the Green Forest Tigers took the conference win and the number one spot in the 3A West 4-1 over the Decatur Bulldogs.

Decatur slips down to number two this week with Centerton's Life Way Christian Warriors in the number three slot.

In a match played in Rogers Thursday night, the Bulldog junior varsity defeated the Arkansas Arts Academy Diamonds 14-0.

The Decatur Bulldogs have only three more games left in the regular season. The first is a home game against Lead Hill Springs at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur. The second is the final away game against the Panthers in Bergman and the third is the final home contest of the season at Bulldog Stadium against the Life Way Warriors. The Decatur-Life Way contest is Senior Night.

The good news for Bulldog soccer fans is that, since the team is number two, it has an automatic berth in the state playoffs May 9-14. Along with the Bulldogs, the Warriors setting at number three also have a chance at a berth in the 3A playoff. This all hinges on the two teams continuing their winning streaks until the end of the season. Only time will tell how high these teams are ranked going into the playoffs.
