WESTSIDE --The Gravette Lions took to the road on April 19 for a conference matchup with the Tigers in Prairie Grove. The outcome of the baseball contest hinged on the final inning.
The Lions grabbed the lead in the top of the first on a run by Gunnar Woolard. The Tigers answered in the bottom of the inning with a run, tying the game up. Neither team could get its batting going through the next five innings.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Tigers brought three runs home to take the lead by three. The Gravette Lions had one more chance in the top of the seventh but were not able to bring any runners across the plate, giving the Prairie Grove Tigers a 4-1 win over the Gravette Lions.
Rhett Hilger was on the mound for the Lions lasting the full six-inning contest and delivering 90 pitches. Hilger allowed four runs on six hits (three earned runs) walking three and striking out two.
