GENTRY -- At home on Friday, the Pioneers dominated the Bulldogs from Waldron with a strong running game. When all was said and done, the Pioneers finished on top, 38-12.
The Pioneers had five touchdowns in the game and a field goal, as well as five points after.
William Pyburn and Jonathon Corter each ran the ball across the goal line twice. Garrison Jackson caught one pass for a 13-yard touchdown.
Gentry senior kicker Diego Seldana was on the mark for the Pioneers all night, with 5 PATs and a field goal.
Gentry's defense played a strong first half, thwarting the Bulldogs on the ground and in the air.
The Pioneers were up 14-0 after the first quarter and 24-0 at the half. They added a TD and PAT in each of the final two quarters, with Waldron picking up two TDs in the third.
The Pioneers had 288 rushing yards to Waldron's 187. In the air, Waldron had 164 yards to Gentry's 130.
On the defensive side, Will Pyburn led in tackles with 14 and four assists. Jonah Summers had six and six and Bryson Walker seven and one.
At an away game against West Fork on Aug. 17, the Pioneers brought home a 32-0 win. Gentry scored two touchdowns and points after in the opening quarter, another TD and PAT in the second, five points in the third and a TD in the final quarter of play.
