Free meals offered in Gentry -- Gentry School District began its Seamless Summer Meal Program on Monday, June 7, and will be serving breakfasts and lunches (dine-in or carry-out) at the Gentry Intermediate School Cafeteria to any child 18 years old and younger at no cost, even if they are not a Gentry Schools student. Parents and adults may obtain meals for a small fee -- $2 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch. Meals will be served Monday through Friday through July 30. Breakfasts are served from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menus can be found at https://bit.ly/PioneerMeals.

Gravette Farmers Market

The Gravette Farmers Market is open each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the open-air pavilion at Old Town Park. The market offers locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, eggs, jams and jellies, baked goods, and farm-raised beef and pork. A variety of arts and crafts is also available. Members of the Old Town String Band provide musical entertainment at the market most Saturdays. Anyone wishing to reserve a booth may call market manager Beth Patton, 479-787-3313.

Senior Center art classes

Henzie's Art Studio holds art classes at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center on the first Thursday of each month. The classes are held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 for each session with all supplies (canvas, paints, brushes) provided. Anyone interested in attending classes should sign up in advance. NWA mobile food pantry

The NWA mobile food pantry is no longer being held at the Billy V. Hall Senior Center. Contact the NWA Foodbank, 479-872-8774, to find the nearest mobile pantry.

Smoked chicken dinner

The Friends of the Gravette Public Library is holding a smoked chicken dinner Friday evening, June 18, with proceeds benefiting the Gravette Public Library. Meals will be available for pickup from 5 to 7 p.m. at Old Town Park. Suggested donation is $7 for a smoked chicken leg quarter, cowboy baked beans, roll and dessert. Meals may be preordered by emailing [email protected] or by completing a form at the library. Preorders must be placed no later than Thursday, June 10. A limited number of dinners will be available for pickup on the day of the event.

Gentry to hold Freedom Fest

This year's Freedom Festival will be held on Saturday, July 3, with a car show beginning at approximately 9 a.m. and other events running from noon until the fireworks display at dusk. Pageants -- five or six of them -- will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Swade Diablos, Creek Rock, and Big Smith. The fireworks display will be huge this year due to a large donation from McKee Foods Corp.

First Baptist food pantry

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Contact the church at 479-282-6658.

Library board meetings

Meetings of the Gravette Public Library advisory board are held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library, 119 Main St. S.E. All meetings are open to the public.

Gentry Fishing Derby set

A fishing derby for children, ages 2-12, is set for 8 a.m. to noon on June 26 at the spring-fed pond at the Flint Creek Nature Park.

Gentry Public Library open

GFA food pantry drive-through

GFA Pantry Inc. at the Gentry Assembly is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. The pantry is drive-through only during the covid-19 pandemic. Clients are asked to call 662-727-5157 or email [email protected] for appointments. They then can pull up to the drive-through awning and someone will meet them outside and get them signed in and bring their food to their vehicle.

Kiwanis Club meetings

Kiwanis Club meetings are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month at the Gravette Civic Center and are open to the public. Visitors are asked to wear a mask when arriving and until seated when physical distancing is not possible.

Senior Farmers Market coupons

The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas is once again offering the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons. Eligibility guidelines and application forms can be obtained at the Saturday farmers market in Gravette (hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday in Old Town Park) or by contacting the Agency's Benton County office at 1410 S.E. 14th Street, P.O. Box 1567, Bentonville, AR 72712. The telephone number is 479-273-9424. Qualified persons may choose to have the coupons mailed to them or pick them up in person by making an appointment.

Bella Vista Area Radio Club

The Bella Vista Area Radio Club is conducting virtual meetings on the first Thursday of each month via YouTube Live. In-person monthly license testing has resumed on the second Saturday of the month. All amateur radio enthusiasts and prospective hams are invited.
