OPINION: Need young people to take the wheel

I like to pick up the mail and take it to the house just before dinner. I can wash up and see what is going on before being called in to eat. The daily mail is mostly pretty nondescript and since we don't get a daily paper anymore, I have been known to read the letters from advertisements. Some of them even have credit cards in them that work to scrape the fresh green off your pants.

I say all that to tell you I almost passed clear out yesterday when I saw a letter from the IRS. I know they don't call; I know we paid; I know we were on time, early as a matter of fact; and so I figured it to take back the money they had deposited in my bank account and maybe even more! I don't think I ever had a letter from the IRS before in all my life. You know the story by now as we all got the same letter. He upset me again!

We are all aware of the price of feed, the price of cattle and the pinch it puts on us trying to make a living. I am concerned and you know the fellers we see at the feed store who are just barely scraping by are plumb worried! Why is it the ones who feed the world are the ones who get kicked first? Well, not always first, thinking of the pipeline workers and the oil business. I need fertilizer for several parcels of the place but, when I price the commercial, I get black spots before my eyes! We beef producers sure need the oil products to continue on.

I have sprayed some places and will get the ditches around here tomorrow if it is not raining again. The neighbors appreciate me keeping the hemlock down to a low roar along our road and I can't afford not to do it because it will kill what eats it. The wonderful moisture has been a benefit to it and the thistles.

The boys in the bullpen have already caused a big rip in the fabric! I had to reset the corner post on the southwest end because of the squabble on Monday of the last week. The two questionable bulls are acting nicer than expected and a couple of muscled-up ones are showing themselves! I am thinking of buying a donkey to put in with them to sorta keep the static down. I have been told those donkeys are just great to end feuds and stubborn streaks.

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, we need young men and women to take the wheel in our country and bring us around the circle to what we were when we were established! We were settled to allow for worship and freedom and doing the best for the citizens of this great country!

What a mess it has become and yet, we still have hope. The youth grow up and speed off to do their part of shaping up the world. God knows we need them!

Had to saddle soap my boots because they have been wet so much lately! Oil your guns and count your ammo, if not way too much, get more! Remember the Alamo!
