SULPHUR SPRINGS -- A 14-year-old boy was struck by a truck Sunday on Highway 59 in front of the Dollar General store in Sulphur Springs. The accident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19.

The investigation determined the boy came off the hill on his bicycle to the west of Highway 59 and attempted to cross the highway without stopping, according to Sulphur Springs police chief Jarod Morgan. The driver of the vehicle attempted to miss the teenager on the bicycle but was unable to avoid him.

Everyone was evaluated by medical personnel and no one was transported, Morgan said.
