Pioneers soar over Eagles on the road

GENTRY -- The Pioneers held the Eagle to two touchdowns and an extra point at Huntsville on Friday and scored three touchdowns a field goal, a two-point conversion and two PATs for a 25-13 win on the road.

Zach Gunneman carried the ball into the endzone once, and Ty Hays and Jonathon Corter each caught one for a Pioneer TD.

Diego Seldana was two for two in PAT attempts and also kicked a field goal, in addition to five kickoffs in the game.

The Pioneers finished the game with 254 rushing yards and 154 yards through the air. Gunneman picked up 108 yards on 19 carries and fumbled the ball once.

Gentry sophomore Addi Taylor threw eight completions in 12 attempts for 96 yards. Chris Bell was three for six and picked up 50 passing yards in the game. Taylor also picked up 69 rushing yards.

On the defensive side, Jonah Summers and Corter each had eight tackles. Will Pyburn had five tackles and five assists. Summers also sacked the Huntsville quarterback twice. Ed Galvin took him down once.

Ty Hays and Taylor each picked off a Huntsville pass in the game.

The win puts Gentry at 5-0 for the season and 1-0 in conference play.

The Pioneers host the Berryville Bobcats on Friday in Pioneer Stadium. The game begins at 7 p.m., following homecoming ceremonies.
