Decatur Christmas Parade set Friday

Santa will make his traditional stopover in Decatur on Dec. 9 during the Decatur Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas Parade through downtown Decatur, beginning at 6 p.m. Santa, Mrs. Claus and many of Santa's hard-working helpers will be on hand in the community room at Decatur City Hall to meet and greet kids of all ages, as well as collect Christmas lists from boys and girls of Decatur. This year's parade theme is "Let Your Light Shine for Christmas." Prizes will be awarded to the floats that best use this theme. The lineup for this year's event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the car wash on the corner of Third Street and South Main Street in Decatur. The parade will wind its way past the Decatur Depot, down Main Street, and end at Decatur City Hall. For more information on the Christmas parade, call 479-752-3912.

Gentry Christmas Parade set Dec. 10

Gentry's annual Christmas Parade is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, on Main Street in downtown Gentry. The lineup will be at 5:30 p.m. This year's theme is "Miracles on Main Street." Santa coming to Gentry library

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Gentry Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 10 for the children from 2 p.m. up until parade time. An open house with music and songs, as well as apple cider and snacks, is planned at the library before the parade. People may watch the parade from the library or just come inside to get warm.

Gravette Hometown Christmas

Gravette area residents will celebrate a "Hometown Christmas on Main" from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Vendors' booths will be set up, offering gift items and holiday treats. A few charitable foundations and clubs will also be on hand with information for visitors. Several activities are planned, including a kids zone and petting zone, a living nativity, a Miss Merry Christmas pageant, a display of artwork from students at Glenn Duffy Elementary School, and a Christmas tree lighting. Prizes will be given to those participating in the Business Bingo contest for the best-decorated business window and for the best-decorated booth.

Friends of the Library book sales

Friends of the Gravette Public Library book sale will be held on the second Saturday of the month only in December due to holiday closings. Giftable volumes and gift certificates are available. Treat your favorite book lover to a sustainable and recyclable gift. "Change for Books!" donation bags are available at the library through Dec. 31. Fill a bag and help the library buy more books.

Project Prom bake sale

The annual Project Prom bake sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Grand Savings Bank, 198 Atlanta Street S.E., in Gravette. All proceeds will benefit Project Prom, a drug- and alcohol-free event for Gravette students.

Coffee with city officials

The city of Gravette will host "Coffee with Elected Officials" in the city council chambers at 202 Main Street N.E. monthly in the hour before the first city council meeting of the month. Guests are invited to stop by for a cup of coffee and to meet and chat with Gravette's elected officials, including the mayor, city council members, and the city attorney. A Coffee with Elected Officials session will be held on Dec. 8 from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Sulphur Springs Library

The Sulphur Springs Library is now open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with over 4,700 books and 300 DVDs available for checkout. Membership is free for anyone with a Benton County address.

Kiwanis meetings

Meetings of the Gravette Kiwanis Club are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month in the cafeteria at Ozarks Community Hospital and are open to the public. Members are asked to park in the back parking lot and enter through the back door. Breakfast will be provided.

Lions Club meetings

Meetings of the Gravette Lions Club are held at 12:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Lunch is available. The club will hold its annual Christmas party following the meeting Tuesday, Dec. 20. Participants are asked to bring a snack and a $2 exchange gift. Visitors are always welcome.
