Registration now open for Gravette Day 5K

GRAVETTE -- Calling all runners and walkers! Registration for the Gravette Day 5K, sponsored by The Gravette Gym, is now open.

This year's event will take place on Gravette Day, Aug. 13, beginning at 8 a.m.; and all proceeds will benefit the Gravette Police Department's Shop with a Cop program.

The course starts at the top of Old Town Park and travels east toward the high school and Highway 72, where runners will turn around and head toward historic Main Street. After passing Main Street businesses, runners will loop back toward the top of Old Town Park where the finish line will be set up. The course is mostly flat, with the exception of a small incline when heading west past the high school. This course is appropriate for runners and walkers, strollers, and leashed and well-behaved dogs.

The event will be timed by Run Around Racing, and the times of all participants will be available on its website after the conclusion of the event.

Water stations will be set up in front of the high school, courtesy of Ozarks Community Hospital, and in front of Gravette Nutrition on Main Street, courtesy of Gravette Nutrition. The first 75 registered runners will receive an official Gravette Day 5K shirt, courtesy of The Gravette Gym.

Registration is $30 for runners ages 19 and older, $15 for student runners ages 18 and under. Awards will be given to the overall top finisher in the division of age 13 and under, age 14-18, and over age 60. The top male and female runner will be awarded in the 19-59 age group.

Runners can register for this event at GravetteAR.com under the "Events" tab.

The Gravette Police Department's Shop with a Cop program allows police officers to take 25 students from the Gravette School District shopping for the Christmas holiday. In 2021, they shopped with 22 students from the middle school, upper and lower elementary, and three students from the high school. The program is funded strictly through donations and fundraising.
