GRAVETTE -- High school seniors in Gravette walked across the stage and received their diplomas in ceremonies held in the Lions Den Arena on Saturday morning.

The graduates, 122 of them as listed on the graduation folder, marched into the arena to Pomp and Circumstance played by the Gravette High School band.

High honors graduates Katherine Keith led the invocation and Braxton Muldoon the pledge of allegiance.

Shannon Mitchell, the high school principal, welcomed family members and guests.

Maribel Childress, superintendent of Gravette Schools, spoke of the joy it gave her to watch this class grow and mature as it came up through the Gravette school system. She told the students to never forget their hometown and to come back and visit the school and share their accomplishments in life.

High honors graduate Logan Smith dedicated the class flowers to media aide Teri Finnell and high school nurse Carolyn Middleton, speaking of the important role both played in the lives of the Class of 2022.

Distinguished high honors graduate Michael Duke and high honors graduate Sara Satchel shared comments from the class.

Assistant high school principal Jared Schoonover presented the candidates, and diplomas were presented by school board president Jay Oliphant and principal Shannon Mitchell. Childress moved the tassels as students crossed the stage, indicating they were now graduates of Gravette High School.

Oliphant presented the graduates, saying they had met the requirements of the state of Arkansas and were now graduates of the high school.

High honors graduate Nicole Vogt spoke a prayer of benediction, and then the caps flew and the celebrations began.
