GENTRY -- Pioneer football fans were given a sneak peek at the 2022 varsity Pioneers at a special scrimmage held in the Pioneer Activities Complex on Thursday evening.

The Pioneer squad, in full pads, demonstrated training and warmup drills and then split into two teams to run scrimmage plays on the half-field turf in the PAC, with parents, family members and fans watching from the sidelines and the weight room balcony.

With the rainy weather outside for most of the week and a soggy football field, the indoor facility allowed the scrimmage to go on while spectators watched from lawn chairs or standing.

Following last year's successful season, the Pioneers have hopes of going even further this year. And, with a good number of last year's players returning this year, including quarterbacks Chris Bell and Tyler Hays, the Pioneers should prove a strong team to watch.
