GRAVETTE -- The annual homecoming parade is always a big part of game day festivities. This year's parade did not disappoint, with many colorful entries causing it to be a highlight of the homecoming celebration. The weather was beautiful, and fans lined the street to watch the entries. A slight breeze, which blew away a few trappings on some floats, was the only drawback.

Homecoming queen candidates Dannia Morales, Trinity Burnett and Joslyn Hendren, and other members of the homecoming court rode in the parade with big smiles and waves to the crowd as they passed by. Dannia Morales, with her escorts Clayton Nall and Kelton McDougal, was crowned queen that evening in ceremonies at Lion Field.

The award-winning Gravette High School marching band marched sharply down the parade route and aroused school spirit with their performance of the school fight song and other tunes.

Several classes, sports teams and school clubs entered floats in the parade. Many floats featured some type of video or board game. Winners of prizes for best floats included the senior class float with a Mario theme. The high school girls' basketball team won the prize for sports teams or clubs with their Lionopoly float.

Riders on many of the floats tossed candy to the crowd, and young parade watchers were able to fill their treat bags and pockets with enough sweets to last at least until the end of the month.
