GRAVETTE -- Participation in 4-H Club activities is a family affair for many area youngsters. Several sibling groups can be found among local club members. Brothers and sisters work together on various projects and sometimes even get a little friendly rivalry going as they compete against each other trying to win awards in livestock shows and other competitions.

One brother and sister team which has done very well in 2022 4-H activities is Danielle Dillon and her brother Jace Dillon. Danielle is a member of the Gravette Gleamers 4-H Club and Jace is a Cloverbud in 4-H. Both have been particularly active in recent weeks as they competed in the Benton County Fair and then in the Arkansas Youth Expo in Fayetteville on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Danielle's projects include beef, goats, photography, foods, clothing, and community service. She always asks her fellow club members to join her in bringing pet food and supplies to local animal shelters. She won Best of Show ribbons with her birdhouse and her science project, as well as a High Point award for her photography exhibit.

Danielle showed her heifer, Roxy, at the Benton County Fair, where she won Breed Champion honors, then took her to the youth expo the following weekend, where she won her class. Both goats she showed placed in the top ten.

Jace has several projects. He won Best of Show for a table setting with a John Deere theme he entered in the county fair and also won several blue ribbons in crafts and foods.

Jace also showed livestock at the fair. He won the Kidded by Exhibitor class in the goat show and received his first belt buckle. He also entered his heifer, Hazzy, and won in the open show at the county fair, then showed her again at the youth expo where she won her class.
