Lady Lions fall to Lady Hawks

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lion volleyball team traveled to Pea Ridge on Thursday to take on the Lady Hawks but fell in the tie-breaking fifth set by four.

After Pea Ridge narrowly won the first two sets, 30-28 and 25-23, the Gravette girls battled back and took sets 3 and 4 by wider margins, 25-15 and 25-17.

But then came the fifth and final set, which Pea Ridge took, 15-11.

"My team battled last night," said Gravette head coach Britney Davis. "The Pea Ridge game is always a huge game on our schedule," she said.

The Lady Lions had a successful preseason, and this was the team's first conference match of the season.

"The first set of the game, my girls never once gave up. We were very evenly matched and it showed last night," Davis explained.

Davis said that a few of her players who stood out in the match were Graci Moffit, Piper Batie, Ella Pinches, Drew Madison and Belen Nelson.
