GENTRY -- The Pioneers traveled all the way to Quitman on Friday, but the long trip yielded a high-scoring game and a big win for the Gentry team, 63-41.

In all, Gentry scored nine touchdowns during the game, five on the ground and four through the air.

Dillon Jarnagan and Braedon Warren each caught two passes for Pioneer TDs. Warren had a total of 111 receiving yards, and Jaranagan 104.

On the ground, Gentry quarterback Chris Bell carried three across the goal line, and Ty Hays, two. Bell had 148 rushing yards, and Hays 128.

Lee Vang, assisted by Hays, made five of six point-after attempts in the game. The Pioneers also made two of three two-point conversion attempts.

The Pioneers had 286 rushing yards in the game and another 297 receiving yards for 583 total yards compared to Quitman's 344. Bell completed 18 of 30 passes in the game.

On the defensive side, Jonathon Corter led in tackles with eight and an assist. He also intercepted two Quitman passes. Tucker Hodges sacked the Quitman QB three times in the game. Dillon Owens and Ethan Evans each recovered a Quitman fumble.

Gentry head coach Justin Bigham said, "Quitman is a good team that made us play the whole game. It was probably the longest high school game I have been a part of. We didn't finish until after 10 p.m.

"We came out flat, which is something that we have to fix," Bigham said. "When we do this, we have to play catchup, and it doesn't help us get in a rhythm. However, our kids responded and finished the game.

"We have a big week ahead, hosting Pea Ridge here at home in Gentry."

The Pioneers host the Pea Ridge Blackhawks at 7 p.m. Friday in Pioneer Stadium.
