Lady Pioneers down Lady Eagles at Huntsville

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers ended their regular season Friday at Huntsville with a 30-point win over the Lady Eagles, 59 to 29.

Gentry senior Alyssa McCarthy led her teammates in the opening quarter by hitting two 3-pointers and two field goals. Emma Tevebaugh and Brynn Cordeiro each added a 3 for 16 points in the opening quarter, giving the lady Pioneers a 16-12 lead going into the second quarter.

In the second, the Lady Pioneers widened the gap, outscoring the Lady Eagles 21 to 5. Shelby Still had four field goals in the quarter. Kaitlyn Caswell added two more, Brynn Cordeiro had a field goal and Tevebaugh added two free throws.

Gentry added another 18 points in the third; Huntsville added only seven. McCarty hit a 3-pointer, two field goals and two free throws. Cordeiro had a 3-pointer and a 2-pointer. Caswell had two field goals. Reese Hester hit a three-pointer in the final quarter, and Lexi Osbourne added a free throw. Huntsville scored five points in the quarter.

McCarty led her teammates in the win with 22 points. Cordeiro had 12, Still and Caswell each had eight, Tevebaugh had five, Hester three, with Osbourne adding one.
