Lady Lions tear up visiting Lady Bobcats

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Bobcats of Berryville were little match for the Lady Lions in play at the Lions Den on Jan. 10, with Gravette winning the lopsided game by a score of 70-22.

The Gravette Girls took a 17-11 lead in the opening quarter, with Alexa Parker and Brooke Handle dropping 3-pointers and Dalacie Wishon and Keeley Elsea hitting from under the basket.

In the second quarter, Berryville managed only three free throws while Gravette added another 24 points to its column on the scoreboard, making it a 41-10 game at the half.

And things didn't get much better for Berryville in the second half. Brooke Handle continued to put shots through the net from inside and outside of the 3-point line, and Elsea, Parker and Wishon added goals of their own for a 20-6 quarter.

In the final quarter, Karley Auffett, Ashlyn Fox and Jailyn Jennings widened the gap even more for a total of 9 points to Berryville's six.

Leading the scoring deluge for Gravette was Handle with 18, Elsea with 16, Parker with 13 and Wishon with 10. Auffett added five, Brynn Romine four free throws, with Fox and Jennings picking up two points each.

BOYS

Berryville 47, Gravette 32

In the boys' game on Jan. 10, the Lions held a 16-12 lead at the half, but the Bobcats pulled ahead of the Lions in the second half, outscoring the Lions 20-9 in the third quarter and 15-7 in the fourth for a 47-32 win.

Gunnar Woolard scored almost half of Gravette's points in the game, with 15. Samuel DeWitt had 7, Kais Patton 5, William Betz 4, and Jace Sandoval 1.
