GENTRY -- Gentry junior Shelby Still had a great night on Tuesday, Jan. 20, picking up 23 points against the visiting Lady Eagles of Huntsville. Still had seven points in the first quarter, four in the second and six in the third and fourth quarters, playing a big part in her team's 63-48 win over the visiting Huntsville girls.
The Lady Pioneers jumped ahead of the Lady Eagles, 17-12, in the opening quarter and widened the gap by 12 more points in the second, finishing the half up 37-20.
After the break, the Gentry girls picked up 15 more points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth to hang on for the win.
In addition to Still, Emma Tevebough added 12, Alyssa McCarty 11, Reese Hester nine (all 3-pointers), Destiny Reinhardt six and Kaitlynn Caswell two. Early in the game, Reinhardt managed to steal the ball several times and make a run for the Gentry goal.
Farmington 56, Gentry 37
A slow second quarter allowed the Lady Cards to pull ahead of the Lady Pioneers for a 21-14 lead at the half and the Lady Cards built on that momentum to take a 56-37 win over the Lady Pioneers on Friday at Farmington.
Alyssa McCarty scored 16 points in the game with three treys and three deuces, plus a free throw. Reese Hester sunk four 3-pointers for 12 in the game. Destiny Reinhardt added a trey, Kaitlyn Caswell a goal and Emma Tevebaugh contributed four at the free-throw line.
