Decatur FFA livestock judging team wins awards in Colorado

DECATUR -- Earlier this month, the Decatur FFA livestock judging team traveled to Denver, Colo., to compete at the National Western FFA Livestock Judging Contest.

On Jan. 5, the team participated in a livestock workout at Colorado State University at Ft. Collins, Colo. On Friday, Jan. 6, the team competed in the Livestock Judging Contest at the National Western. The contest consisted of 12 classes of cattle, sheep, hogs and goats, and six sets of oral reasons.

The team received awards for fourth in hogs, fifth in sheep, and seventh in reasons. The team was 11th overall in the contest.

Wyatt Jackson was high individual in hogs and ninth overall in reasons. Jacey Smith was 10th in sheep and 13th overall in reasons.

Team members were Wyatt Jackson, Jacey Smith, and Landen Watson.
