GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers came back from a slow start in the first quarter on Jan. 17 at Gentry High School, to hold the Shiloh Christian Lady Saints to a single goal in the second quarter and pile on the points, moving from a 14-8 deficit in the first quarter to a 25-16 lead by the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Shiloh hit two 3-pointers from the outside but Gentry picked up another 14 points behind the strong shooting of senior Alyssa McCarty, who put in two threes, a two and three free throws in the quarter.

Shiloh scored 11 to Gentry's 10 in the final quarter but couldn't come close and the game ended with a 49-33 win for the Lady Pioneers.

McCarty led her teammates on the scoreboard with 25. Kaitlyn Caswell had 10, Destiny Reinhardt five, Shelby Still four, Emma Tevebaugh a basket and a free throw and Reese Hester two at the free-throw line.

At Berryville on Friday, the Lady Pioneers took an early 11-5 lead over the Lady Bobcats behind the shooting of Kaitlynn Caswell, Alyssa McCarty and Reese Hester and then held on to that lead the rest of the game for a 45-38 win.

Alyssa McCarty led the Lady Pioneers in scoring with 13. Reese Hester sunk four big 3-pointers in the game for 12, Shelby Still picked up 8 points in the second half, Kaitlyn Caswell had 5, Brynn Cordeiro 3, Emma Tevebaugh and Destiny Reinhardt had 2 each.

The Pioneers didn't fare as well before a home crowd on Tuesday, Jan. 17, falling to the saints, 48-25.

The Saints outscored the Pioneers each quarter: 12-7, 14-5, 10-8, and 12-5.

Jonathon Corter led the Pioneers in scoring with his drives under the basket, picking up three goals and three of 12 free throws for 9 points in the game. Hideki Xiong added 5 points, Garrett Jech 4, Addi Taylor 3, and Hayden Henry and Logan Heath had 2 points each.

The Pioneers fell to the Bobcats at Berryville Friday night by a score of 55-24.
