Gentry falls to Van Buren, blows out Green Forest, Cedarville

GENTRY -- Crafton Beeler tallied four hits and led the Pioneers to a 14-1 win over Green Forest on Feb. 28. Beeler doubled in the first, second, and third innings and singled in the fourth.

Gentry got things going in the first inning when Brayden Feathers tripled to center and was brought home on a Riggs Harper ground out.

After scoring three runs in the second, the Pioneers added six more runs in the third inning. Brayden Feathers, Isaak Crittenden, Drew Nash and Jeremiah Lemke all drove in runs for Gentry.

Feathers was credited with the victory for the Pioneers. He allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out six. Beeler threw one inning in relief and struck out three.

Mason Meador took the loss for Green Forest. He lasted three innings and allowed 12 hits and 11 runs while striking out four.

Gentry racked up 15 hits in the game. Beeler, Crittenden, Feathers and Harper each had multiple hits for the Pioneers. Beeler led Gentry with four hits in four at-bats. Both Beeler and Harper had three RBIs in the game.

Ridge Swofford went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Green Forest in hits.

Van Buren 3, Gentry 2

The Feb. 27 game against Van Buren was a heartbreaker for Gentry, with the Pointers scoring two runs in the sixth to get past the Pioneers, 3-2.

With the game tied at two and the Pointers still batting in the bottom of the sixth, Mason Dalmut singled and drove in the winning run.

The pitching was strong on both sides, with both the Van Buren pitchers and Gentry pitchers striking out 12 in the game.

Gentry took the lead in the first inning, scoring two runs on an Isaak Crittenden single.

Presley Nichols earned the win on the mound for Van Buren, throwing six innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out 10 and walking one. Dylan Dudley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Crittenden was on the mound for Gentry. He pitched five innings and allowed two hits and one run while striking out 11. Bennett Roberts threw one inning in relief for Gentry.

Riggs Harper led Gentry in batting with two hits in three at-bats, one of them a triple.

Gentry 23, Cedarville 0

Isaak Crittenden led his teammates with his bat on March 1, with four hits (two of them doubles) in four at-bats, scoring three times and driving in four runs for the Pioneers as Gentry blanked visiting Cedarville, 23-0, in a Pioneer slugfest.

Riggs Harper pitched the three-inning game for Gentry, allowing two hits, no runs and striking out nine.
