Pioneers down Golden Arrows

GENTRY -- The Pioneers picked up a big 12-1 victory when they traveled to Lavaca on March 7 to play the Golden Arrows.

Gentry scored 12 runs on 10 hits and three Lavaca errors in the game. Lavaca had four hits and scored one run in the third inning.

Crafton Beeler helped get things started for Gentry when he singled on a 2-2 count and brought home two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Pioneers had another big inning in the fifth, with Beeler, Jeremiah Lemke and Brayden Feathers bringing in another three runners.

Feathers was the winning pitcher for Gentry, throwing for four innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out one. Briar Mayberry threw three innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Drew Nash, Beeler and Isaak Crittenden all managed multiple hits for the Pioneers. Nash had three hits in three at-bats. Crittenden, Beeler and Riggs Harper all had doubles in the game.
