The Lady Bulldogs took the conference win over the Lady Cougars in three sets.

EUREKA SPRINGS -- After winning big in Decatur on Aug. 31, the three Lady Bulldog volleyball teams boarded the school's activities bus bound for Eureka Springs on Sept. 5. Their objective? To continue their recent winning streak and return home with a trio of wins on the road. And that is exactly what the junior high A and B and varsity teams accomplished.

Arriving at Highlander Gym in Eureka Springs around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, all three Lady Bulldog teams disembarked the bus, ready to play volleyball.

Up first was the junior high B team. The young players made quick work of the task ahead and took down the Lady Highlanders JHB in two sets. This was the second win in a row for the Decatur JHB.

Five minutes after the JHB, the two junior high A teams took the court for warmups and five minutes each of serving and hitting. Then it was time for the second contest of the night. Like their younger counterparts, the Decatur JHA took its contest in two sets and won its third conference win of the season.

The final match of the day pitted the Lady Bulldog and Lady Highlander varsity teams in another 2A conference matchup. Decatur jumped out in front early in set one and managed to maintain the lead until several volleys by the Lady Highlanders brought them back into the contest.

Coach Desi Meek called a quick time out to regroup her team and take the tie away from Eureka Springs. The ploy worked, and the Lady Bulldogs began pulling ahead once again. Decatur took the first set.

The second set was much closer than the first, with the Lady Highlanders finally in their element once again. Decatur managed to maintain it lead throughout the set, with Eureka fighting back to close the gap to one point. Senior Annabelle Bell stepped up to the serving line and fired off a series of fast serves that resulted in enough points to put the Lady Bulldogs in firm control to take set two, 25-20.

The Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders faltered in the third and final set, giving the Decatur Lady Bulldogs its second conference win of the season in three sets.
