PRAIRIE GROVE -- Last season, Prairie Grove managed a split against a talented Gravette team, and coach Scott Reed realized his hopes for that achievement again this year with Friday's 55-48 win.

Prairie Grove fashioned an 8-2 run over a critical 3:53 span of the fourth quarter to go from a 38-38 tie at the 5:12 mark to a 46-40 lead with 49.8 seconds to play.

Lexie Henry got a step and beat her defender to the hoop, hit a 15-foot pullup and capped the run at the foul line, providing 6 of her team-high 17 points for Prairie Grove (17-7, 7-5 4A-1) during the run. She also had 8 rebounds.

Hope Kidd turned in a 12 point, 9 rebound performance, tracking down a rebound in the corner to seal a defensive stop on the heels of Henry's driving bucket that kickstarted the Lady Tigers' run.

Gravette senior point guard Brynn Romine scored a game-high 21 points. Her deep trifecta gave the Lady Lions a chance, ending the run and slashing Prairie Grove's lead to 46-43 with 44 seconds left, but the Lady Tigers hit 9 of 10 foul shots in the last minute and owned a 23-16 scoring advantage in a decisive fourth quarter.

Camryn Cash had 10 points and Ava Nall chipped in 8 points for Prairie Grove all in the last 10 minutes of the contest.

Keeley Elsea finished with 8 for Gravette (20-6, 10-2), which dropped just its second conference game of the season, but Prairie Grove defended its home court well on senior night. The Lady Tigers did a much better job of guarding Alexa Parker on the perimeter. In the previous meeting, Parker made 8 field goals, half of them from beyond the arc, and scored 23 points. She was limited to a single trey and 5 points Friday.

Prairie Grove jumped ahead 9-1 by holding Gravette to a single free throw in the first six minutes. Kidd started the spree with a 3-pointer. Henry fed K.K. Dreves inside, Kidd scored by cutting down the middle, receiving a pass and making a left-handed layup. Kidd drew a foul when she scored on the offensive boards. The basket was waved off by a foul prior to the shot. No problem, the Lady Tigers inbounded to Henry slashing to the basket and scored anyway.

DaLacie Wishon scored on a lob play to get the Lady Lions' first bucket with 1:17 remaining in the first quarter and went into the quarter break down, 13-4.

Prairie Grove got three offensive rebounds on one sequence early in the second quarter. That frustrated Gravette coach Will Pittman, who challenged his team, "When are we going to rebound?"

The Lady Lions responded by putting together a 14-3 run to capture the lead.

Elsea tracked down a loose ball and scored. Brooke Handle knocked down a jump shot and Parker sank a trey, prompting a Prairie Grove time-out.

When play resumed, Wishon dribbled across the lane, finishing with a layup to even the score at 13-13. Prairie Grove got a bucket from Dreves in the paint but Romine's three pushed Gravette into the lead at 16-15. Brea Chambliss tied the contest with a free throw for the Lady Tigers. Romine's driving bucket capped the run for Gravette, which regained the lead at 18-16.

Wishon added a free throw for Gravette. Henry offset that by hitting 3 of 4 charity shots to forge a 19-19 halftime tie.

The score was still deadlocked, 32-32, at the end of the third quarter.
