GENTRY — Tanglez Salon has opened at a new location west of Gentry and is going green, with certfiably organic hair products.

Delta Sexson has been a hair dresser for 22 years and is licensed in both Arkansas and Oklahoma, She worked for a number of salons before going into business for herself.

Her salon, Tanglez, was once located on Gentry Boulevard. But now Sexson is reopening at 22946 West Arkansas Highway 12 - a much larger building - and hopes to expand her business, providing not only traditional hair care, but much, much more.

Sexson offers her patrons - both men and women - hair cuts, styles, perms and manicures. She serves complementary organic coffee, tea and biscotti. She has tanning beds available and looks forward to soon - by the end of December - having an exercise gym in place with top-of-the-line exercise equipment for her patrons to work out and get in shape on their own schedule, using a swipe card for entry during business hours.

"This is not the low-quality equipment like some gyms offer," Sexson said. "It's excellent, high-quality equipment. I'll have tread mills, everything," she said.

Sexson has ample parking at her new location. And for customers who wish to sit outside for a while, she has chairs on a covered porch.

The new focus of Tanglez, though, is on going green. Instead of using hair products with harsh chemicals, Sexson is using organic products which, she said, don't contain dangerous chemicals - even in perm systems.

"There are no dangerous chemicals to enter the head through the hair shaft," she said of the Sukesha products she uses and offers for sale in her new business.

In addition to hair products, Sexson has for sale a full line of makeup, facial cleansers, skin hydrants, lip gloss and wrinkle creams. She even offers a pain relieving cream, which she says, works amazingly well. She sells temperature-controlled flat irons, too.

"If you don't have an adjustable temperature control, you can burn and damage your hair," Sexson said.

Tanglez officially opened for business on Tuesday, and Sexson is offering free shampoos and blow dries, using organic and color-safe shampoos, to bring in customers and give them the opportunity to try her organic products. She also is letting her customers sample other products, such as Anti-Terge hand cream.

"Come by and get a free sample," she said.

The new going-green Tanglez Salon is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and by appointment on Mondays and Saturdays. The business telephone number is 479-736-1411.
