Gentry man charged with rape

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

— Oscar Hernandez, 27, of Gentry was arrested April 29 on charges that he had sex with a girl while she was 12 and then 13 years of age.

According to Gentry police, Hernandez initiallydenied the allegations but later admitted them.

Police said the crime came to light when the girl’s parents filed a missing person report, leading to a Siloam Springs investigation and arrest. Information from that investigation implicated Hernandez and led to his arrest by Gentry police.

The crimes allegedly occurred during the summer and fall of 2010, according to police.

Hernandez, according to Gentry police, was out on bond, but is charged with rape, a Class Y felony.

Police say there are yet other persons of interest in the case.
