Soccer Team Benefits

The Lady Pioneers soccer team will have a booth at the July 4th Freedom Festival to raise money to help cover the cost of state championship rings for the team. They will also host a soccer camp Aug. 8 at the Pioneer Athletic Complex.

Masonic Fundraiser

Gentry Lodge 222 will be offering ice-cold drinks at the July 4th Freedom Festival to raise funds for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. All the gross funds raised will be donated to the hospital. The lodge's new sign can be viewed on the Gentry Masonic Lodge Facebook page.

Vacation Bible School

First Baptist Church of Highfill is holding vacation Bible school from 6 to 9 p.m. through June 25 for children who have completed kindergarten through 11th grades. Children are invited to grab their expedition gear and prepare for "Journey Off the Map!" They are invited to join the VBS team and discover truths about Jesus, the ultimate guide.

Double-Your-Dollars

The Gravette Farmers' Market has received a grant to offer the Double-Your-Dollars token program to any senior who is participating in the Senior Nutrition Voucher program. This expanded program, which matches the senior vouchers with tokens, allows using tokens for any food items, not just vegetables, but they must be spent only at the Gravette Farmers' Market. Any senior in the program who hasn't picked up tokens may get them on a Saturday from the market manager.

Go7 Food Program

The Go7 food program's next free food giveaway will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Gravette Civic Center (Boys and Girls Club building) on Charlotte St., S.E. The program is open to the public and requires no proof of income. Bags may be brought. The food program will continue on the last Saturday of each month at the same time and location.

Wagapalooza in Gentry

On August 8, Tailwaggers will host Wagapalooza in Gentry. The event will include a barbecue cook-off, pie-eating contest, ugliest dog and dog that looks like its owner contest. The event will feature prizes from local nonprofits, clubs and businesses and more, including adoptable dogs and a dog play area. Tailwaggers will be selling armbands for tasting barbecue and for inflatables and other activities. Regional Transit Rides

The city of Gravette has partnered with Ozark Regional Transit for the purpose of an "on demand" service agreement to serve the city's citizens. The fare will be $2.50 per destination and service hours are 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Seamless Summer

Gravette Public Schools, in cooperation with Sulphur Springs Events Inc., is providing lunch free of charge for any child, 18 or younger, regardless of whether they attend school in the Gravette Public School District. Lunch is served Monday through Friday through July 31 at the following locations: from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gravette Upper Elementary School, 500 8th Ave., S.E., Gravette; and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old school cafeteria and city hall, 512 S. Black Ave., Sulphur Springs. Students may come to either location during the serving times listed to receive a free meal. Anyone over 18 years of age may purchase a meal for $3.50 on site. Seamless Summer in Gentry

Free breakfast and lunch for kids 18 and under is also available in Gentry during the summer months at the Gentry Intermediate School cafeteria. Breakfast is served from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Gravette Summer Reading

The fourth event in the Gravette Public Library's summer reading program will be held Thursday, June 25, beginning at 11 a.m. The theme for the program is "Every Hero Has a Story" and this Thursday's session will focus on Heroes of Myth and Legend. The final session, on Heroes of Today, will be held July 2. The sessions are free and open to all children, ages 4 to 12, in the area. Gentry Summer Reading

Gentry Public Library's 2015 summer reading program, "Every Hero Has A Story," will run through July 30. Children, 6 and under with a current library membership, may register for programs on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.; and children, 7 and above, may register for programs on Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will receive a logbook to record titles of books read this summer. The library will also be offering a variety of programs each week. A calendar of events is available at the library and children are encouraged to attend as often as possible. The calendar includes nature's heroes with Sam Doss on the week of June 23 and 25, Bible heroes on the week of June 30 and July 2, military heroes on the week of July 7 and 9, child heroes on the week of July 14 and 16, comic book heroes on July 21 and 23 and hero dress-up days on July 28 and 30. Everyone who participates in the programs will be invited to a final party at the close of the summer reading program.

Gentry Class of 1970

Gentry Class of 1970 will have a reserved space at the July 4th Freedom Festival. Classmates will begin gathering at 3 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and come and enjoy seeing old friends. All GHS grads are welcome to come and visit.

Freedom Fest Vendors

Vendors who would like to rent booth space at the 102nd Annual Gentry Freedom Fest may now sign up. Applications can be obtained at www.gentry chamber.com or by calling 479-736-2358 to have one sent via USPS mail. Applications are also available at Gentry City Hall and Gentry Chamber of Commerce. Food vendors will be inspected by the Arkansas Department of Health and all vendors will be subject to payment of Arkansas sales tax.

Little Miss and Mister

Parents of Gentry children, ages 3-5 on July 4, are invited to enter them in the 2015 Little Miss and Mister Gentry Pageant to be held on the stage in the Gentry City Park on the afternoon of July 4. Appreciation Picnic

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces -- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard -- active duty or reserve, or those with family members serving in any of these branches of the military any place in the world are invited to attend an appreciation picnic, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the Bella Vista American Legion, located at U.S. 71 and Kingsland Road in Bella Vista. Those attending are asked to bring a picture of their loved ones in the Armed Forces and share information about them with others. Those currently serving are invited to wear their uniforms. Since it will be Independence Day, patriotic clothing is encouraged. The event will be held, rain or shine.

Highfill Food Pantry

Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It features locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 12 noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
