Board finalizes bond sale for construction projects

GENTRY -- The Gentry School Board, in a special meeting on Nov. 7, finalized bond sale contracts, selected Flintco as construction manager for the diesel lab and career and technical education building on the high school campus and handled a number of personnel changes.

The board finalized documents related to the $9.5 million bond issue which was approved by voters in the Sept. 20 school election and accepted the bid of Raymond James and Associates to purchase the bonds at a true interest cost to the district of 2.858562 percent. Three other bids were received with true interest cost over 3 percent.

According to Stephens, Inc., the school district's financial manager, the closing and transfer of the bond proceeds to the district should take place on Dec. 6.

The board selected Flintco to serve as construction manager for the district in the construction project to build a diesel mechanic lab and career and technical classroom building on the high school campus. Other companies considered included C.R. Crawford and Nabholz.

In other action, the board accepted the resignations of Patrick Anderson and Billy Glasscock, both custodians at the Gentry Intermediate School, and hired Bryanna Jaramillo as a kindergarten aide.

The board's regular November meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. next Monday in the high school's PAC building community room.
