GRAVETTE -- Gravette junior-high cheerleaders held their cheer camp July 18-19, and there were 10 NCA All-American nominees. Two cheerleaders made the NCA All-American team.
The cheerleaders learned two dances, two chants and one cheer at the camp, along with a new pyramid.
Many of the cheerleaders are new to the squad.
NCA nominees include Aiden Young, grade seven; Ella Scantlin, grade seven; Emily Lucas, grade eight; Chloe Lucas, grade nine; Natalie McGee, grade eight; Abi Edgeman, grade seven; Haley Mayhew, grade nine; Katie Keith, grade nine; Bella Holloway, grade nine; and Stormey Jo Pembleton, grade nine. Holloway and Pembleton were also selected NCA All-American team members.
For tryouts, the cheerleaders were required to do a three-jump sequence, a tumble sequence and the NCA cheer.
Coaches are Traci Rutledge and Brenda Ratliff.
