EXETER (Mo.) -- The Decatur Bulldogs finally snapped their 10-game losing streak Dec. 20 when they faced the Exeter Tigers on the road at Exeter High School in Missouri. In this contest, the second win of the season, the Bulldogs handily defeated the Tigers by 22 points.

The last time the Bulldogs won a game was at home in Peterson Gym Nov. 13 when they defeated the Watts (Okla.) Engineers, 50-49.

Decatur gained control of the opening tip-off and, with only six seconds elapsed, put up a two for the first points of the game. From there, the Bulldogs established control of the first quarter. But neither team hit the boards very well during the first eight minutes of the contest and, by the end, the Bulldogs had a six-point lead over the Tigers.

Both offenses picked up the pace in the second quarter, with the Bulldogs maintaining their six-point lead over the Tigers through much of the quarter. Exeter tried to narrow the gap, but Decatur's aggressive style proved too much and the Bulldogs went into halftime leading by 10.

The Bulldogs maintained their edge throughout the second half, widening the lead to 22 by the final buzzer. The Decatur Bulldogs defeated the Exeter Tigers, 56-34, for their second win of the season.

Leading the scoring drive for the Decatur Bulldogs was Ryan Ross with 15, followed by Kevin Garcia with 12 and Jimmy Mendoza with 11. Rounding out the Bulldog scoring effort was Tafari James with six, Cayden Bingham and Kelvin Moreno each with four, Bryson Funk and Jose Rubi each with two.

The Bulldogs will resume the second half of their 2018-19 season on Jan. 8 when they travel to Centerton to take on new conference rival, the Life Way Warriors, at Life Way for a 7 p.m. contest. Decatur returns to Peterson Gym in Decatur to face the Arkansas Arts Academy Diamonds. Game time for that contest is 7 p.m.
