SUBMITTED The Lady Pioneers finished their 2019 soccer season with a win over Morrilton and a loss to Prairie Grove.

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneer soccer team played Morrilton on Friday, April 26, and executed its offense well, catching Morrilton in its offsides trap. The girls went into penalty kicks and won, 3-2.

Senior Jaydon Jarnagan, sophomore Lily Lor, junior Katie Ellis, junior Ahrya Reding and sophomore Lexi Fowler were the first five to shoot penalty kicks. Ellis, Lor and Reding made their shots, and sophomore goalie Makenna Ward stepped up and stopped Morrilton's shots, leading to the win.

"We played really well on Friday," Reding said, "and I am very proud of how we all played together. We executed our defense and our offense really well, which led to us getting a lot of shots on goal and many chances to take the lead. I'm glad we went out of the regular season with a win."

The Gentry Lady Pioneer soccer team played Prairie Grove on Monday, April 29. The girls were ready and hoped they would play the same as they did on April 26, but the girls lost momentum when Prairie Grove scored a quick one. By the end of the game, the girls were down, 6-0, and their season ended.

"We had a rough season," Jarnagan said, "but I wouldn't have asked to 'yeehaw' with anyone else. To the upcoming freshmen and new players, play your heart out because it ends so soon."

"This season was rough, but we fought hard the entire way," added senior Danielle Spencer. "This game didn't go how we wanted it, but I'm still very proud of all the girls who stepped out on the field with us seniors one last time."

"I'm sad the season came to an end on such a hard loss, but I'm glad I got to get close to these girls this season," said senior Madi Powlowski. "Keep yee-hawing every season, ladies."

The girls were 3-15 in the 2019 season.
