GENTRY -- Students in Alishia Ramsey's pre-AP English II class read books which they both wrote and illustrated to first-grade students at Gentry Primary School on Monday.

Students split up into groups of two or three to complete their projects. After completing their work, the books were laminated by Ramsey to protect and secure the artwork and text on the pages.

The English students finished their children's books and practiced for Monday's reading by reading them to their peers on Thursday in the library at the High School. Students showed their illustrations to the class and took turns reading as they turned the pages of their books.

Then, on Monday came the real test when they read their books to the young students who gathered round to see the illustrations and hear the stories.
