Lady Pioneers have winning big week

GENTRY -- It was a successful week for the Lady Pioneers last week, picking up wins on April 12 and again on Thursday.

Gentry 11

Berryville 7

Although the Lady Bobcats scored seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings on Thursday, the Lady Pioneers outscored them in the first, fifth and seventh for an 11-7 win.

Gentry had 12 hits in the game, and Berryville had eight.

The Lady Pioneers picked up their first run in the second inning when Randi Jo Bolinger hit a solo home run.

After adding three runs in the fifth, the Gentry girls scored seven runs in the sixth, with Liberty Brannon, Emmi Haag, Malea Wilson and Madi Voyles all driving in runs in the inning.

Kyleigh Wheaton pitched for Gentry. She gave up seven runs on eight hits in seven innings. She struck out 12.

Berryville allowed 12 hits and 11 runs while striking out four.

Afton Finnell, Wheaton and Haag each had multiple hits for Gentry. Wheaton and Finnell both had three hits to lead the Lady Pioneers. Wheaton and Haag had doubles.

Gentry 14

Huntsville 0

When Gentry hosted Huntsville on Monday, April 12, the Lady Pioneers sent their opponents home empty-handed in the no-hitter.

Kyleigh Wheaton was in the circle for Gentry for the five-inning game. She allowed no hits, no runs and struck out 12 in the 14-0 game.

Randi Jo Bolinger led Gentry with her bat by driving in four runs. She was 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in runs with a walk in the second and a line-drive home run to left in the third. Gentry scored six runs in the inning, with Bolinger and Afton Finnell picking up RBIs.

In all, Gentry scored its 14 runs on 14 hits over four innings.

Malea Wilson, Wheaton, Hailie Kreger and Bolinger each had multiple hits for Gentry. Kreger, Wheaton and Wilson each had three. The Lady Pioneers played an error-free game in the field.
