Pioneers have winning week on the diamond

GENTRY -- The Pioneers scored 10 runs in each of last week's games and picked up two wins, shutting out Berryville on Thursday and allowing Huntsville only a single run.

On Thursday, Isaiah Lemke was on the mound for the Pioneers. He allowed no runs and shut out Berryville, 10-0

Gentry scored two runs in its first at-bat when Crafton Beeler singled on a 2-2 count and brought home two Pioneer baserunners.

The Pioneers added four runs in the third inning, with Lemke, Beeler and Aiden Whitehead all driving in runs.

Lemke allowed three hits in seven innings on the mound, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Chris Hipps took the loss for Berryville, allowing three hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out three.

Dawson Wright, Whitehead, Isaak Crittenden, Lemke, Garry Cox, Cody Tucker and Beeler each added to the hit tally for the Pioneers.

Huntsville 1

Gentry scored a run in the first inning on a Huntsville error and added five more in the third. The big inning which sealed the game for Gentry was the result of singles by Brayden Feathers, Dawson Wright and Isaiah Lemke and an error on a ball put in play by Isaak Crittenden.

Crittenden allowed four hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 12.

Baden Carter started for Huntsville, allowing one hit and three runs over one and one-third innings. Brooks Wiggins, Jude Box, and Kross Easterling each relieved for Huntsville.

The Pioneers had seven hits in the game, with Feathers and Crittenden picking up two hits each. Feathers led with two RBIs. Gentry played a perfect game in the field, with no errors.
