GRAVETTE -- April is National Foot Health Awareness Month. Ozarks Community Hospital's podiatrist wants to spread awareness of common foot issues and help the community get prepared for the upcoming flip-flop season by offering complimentary foot screenings for all ages through the month of May.

"Our feet are one of the most important parts of our body, yet they tend to be the most neglected! This month is the perfect time to get your feet back in shape. I offer services from your lower leg to the tip of your toe and everything in between," says Frederick Day, DPM, the only podiatrist in Northwest Arkansas board certified in both foot surgery and rearfoot reconstruction and ankle surgery.

Day goes on to explain that proper footwear, a healthy diet and routine foot checks are a few things that help prevent wounds and protect the feet.

"In the upcoming summer months, it's important to avoid walking barefoot in common areas like pools and locker rooms. You can contract many communicable diseases and wearing flip-flops or sandals allows a protective layer between you and the floor," Day said.

Day offers podiatry services and preventive care to patients of all ages. He is currently accepting new patients at the Specialty Clinic located on the second floor of Ozarks Community Hospital.

"During National Foot Health Awareness Month, I encourage you to take that one minute out of your day to look at your feet. If you find something wrong, come see me for a free foot exam," Day said.

To schedule a complimentary exam with Dr. Frederick Day, call the OCH Specialty Clinic at 479-344-6870.
