Orlando Martinez, 56, of Gravette, died on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021.

He was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Aug. 29, 1964, to Panfilo Martinez Jr. and Joaquina Guerrero Martinez. He was raised in Maysville, attended and graduated from Gravette High School in the Class of 1982. He was employed with AEP for 35 years and was a shift supervisor at Flint Creek Power Plant in Gentry. In his younger days, Orlando and his brother Charles were recruited by Marvin Wilbur to play for the mighty Maysville baseball team. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Concepcion and Panfilo Martinez Sr., Concepcion and Secundino Guerrero; his father-in-law, James Pruitt; mother-in-law, Joyce Pruitt; and sister-in-law, Cindy Rankin.

He is survived by his wife, Carla; son Justin (Miranda); and grandson, Case Orlando; mother, Joaquina G. Martinez of Maysville; sisters, Anita Scates of Maysville, Irene (Randy) Webster of Linden, Texas, Noelia Thomas of Sallisaw, Okla.; brothers, Jaime Martinez (Charlene) of Longview, Texas, Lehn Charles Martinez of Maysville, Joe (Michelle) Martinez of Hiwasse; and brother-in-law, James Rankin of Gentry.

A rosary will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gravette Civic Center, 401 Charlotte Street S.E. in Gravette. A service and celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Decatur Assembly of God, 674 North Main Street in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Grand Savings Bank to be utilized to help people or organizations in need to honor Orlando.
