Gravette library holds gardening programs

GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Public Library will host a presentation about gardening in small spaces at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the library. The presentation is part of a GROW IT -- COOK IT -- SAVE IT series offered by the library.

The presentation will include methods such as square-foot gardening and growing vegetables and flowers in a variety of containers. Registration is required, and space is limited to 20 participants. People may register by using the link on the library's website and social media pages or by calling the library at 479-787-6955.

The library will hold a seed exchange from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the library. Herman's Garden Seed Donation Program, an outreach of the Seed Savers Exchange, has donated 100 packets of vegetable and flower seeds for the event. Attendees may bring heirloom seeds to exchange, although this is not required. Door prizes will be given, and children may plant herb seeds to take home. Registration is not required for this event.

"We appreciate the Seed Savers Exchange for donating seeds for the March 4 event and Penguin Random House, which awarded the library a $1,000 grant in support of the GROW IT -- COOK IT -- SAVE IT program, said Karen Benson, library director.

The Gravette Public Library is located at 119 Main Street S.E. Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
