GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers had a win, a tie and a loss last week on the soccer field.
The Gentry girls had a big 6-2 win over the Bentonville-West junior varsity team on Monday, March 13.
Destiny Reinhardt scored two goals for Gentry and had one assist. Cayci Capps, Kaitlyn Caswell, Alexis Osbourn and Madison Lenda all had one goal in the game. Lenda also had an assist.
"We have had 11 different players score goals this season and have enjoyed the preconference play, growing a group of freshmen," said Jamie Johnson, head girls' coach, adding that "two that frequently start are Hailey Bond-Sticklan, who has stepped in to play goalie, and Cecilia Xiong."
Johnson said her girls were down, 2-0, on March 14, against Life Way at the half but they fought their way back in the second half to tie the game. We "struggled with starters being fatigued and injured, allowed a last-minute goal to tie the game but came back from being down 0-2 at the half," she said. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Cayci Capps and Esli Deleon had goals. Life Way had its own goal.
Against HarBer JV on March 15, the Gentry girls came up short, losing the contest, 2-0.
Johnson started and played all the players that did not start or get to play much during the entire first half.
The game remained scoreless until the last eight minutes of the first half when HarBer scored on freshmen goalie Mia Rodriguez and Hailey Bond Strickland.
The Lady Pioneers are scheduled to play Rogers Heritage in Gentry after spring break, on March 27. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
