Gravette library reopening planned

GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Public Library will hold a grand reopening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, following a remodel to make the library more easily accessible to patrons who use mobility devices.

"We are thrilled with the result and very thankful for the Libraries Transforming Communities grant and community support that made this project possible," said Karen Benson, library director.

The work included removing walls to improve traffic flow inside the main entrance, replacing the motor on the ADA door, constructing a help desk and updating the lobby with new furnishings provided by a donation from Care and Share.

The project, which was awarded to Passion Project LLC, was funded in full by a $20,000 Libraries Transforming Communities grant and donations from McKee Foods and a distribution of funds held by the Gravette Community Foundation from previous fundraising activities earmarked for library capital improvements.

Solar eclipse glasses will be distributed at the event, and refreshments will be served.

The Gravette Public Library is located at 119 Main Street S.E. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
