HIGHFILL -- Highfill residents have a packed schedule of community events and important city meetings to look forward to in the coming months, according to a recent announcement from the city.
The Highfill City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Highfill City Council Chambers. Following that, the Highfill Parks Advisory Committee is set to meet at the same location at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The Highfill Planning Commission will also convene at the City Council Chambers at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Other events include the following:
City Hall will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day.
The Highfill Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser at Fire Station #1, 1218 W. First Ave., on Saturday, Aug. 23. The event begins at 11 a.m.
The First Baptist Church of Highfill will host a block party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at City Park, located at 180 NW Main St.

National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Silver Meadows Subdivision.
A Fall Tree Giveaway at Highfill City Park from 7 a.m. to noon on a date to be determined.
A Trunk or Treat event presented by Logan 4-H from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Highfill City Park.
The Highfill Fall Festival, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Highfill City Park.
Christmas in the Park on Friday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Highfill City Park.
The city also announced ongoing volunteer opportunities. Residents can assist with events and park maintenance by contacting the Parks Department through City Hall or visiting the city's website.
