Mr./Miss Pageants Scheduled At GHS

— The Gravette High School Parent-Teacher Organization announces plans for the annual Mr. and Miss GHS Pageant which will be held Saturday, November 14, at the Performing Arts Center.

The PTO also announces another fundraiser is to give away a Nintendo Wii Sports Edition and an in-dash DVD, GPS stereo system this Friday, November 6, during the third quarter of the last home football game.

Twenty-five contestants will be competing for Mr. and Miss GHS titles in the pageant which will be held at 7 p.m. on November 14.Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Tickets for the prizes giveaway are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased at the table set up by the football stand at Lion Field.

Proceeds from both events go for GHS PTO student recognition and scholarship programs, said Peggy Galyean, president of the organization. If you have questions contact her at 479-640-0536.Disposal Center Opens Saturday For Residents

The first Benton County Convenience Center, a drop-off for bulk waste, will open this Saturday at the Benton County Road Department in Bentonville.

Since roadwork on the Highway 102 was delayed by rainfall, residents will use a temporary route within the road department complex, entering at Melissa Drive and Southwest “I” Street.

The Center will be openfrom 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday the remainder of the year except the Saturdays after Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Household bulk items such as mattresses, sofas, tables, electronics, appliances and bicycles can be taken to the center for disposal.

Household trash, hazardous waste, commercial waste and yard debris will not be accepted.

Kiwanians Will Hear Talk About Meth

Persons who are concerned about the possible manufacturing and use of methamphetamine in our community are invited to attend a meeting of the Gravette Kiwanis Club Friday, November 6, at 7 a.m. at the Main Cafe.

Representatives of the Benton County Drug Task Force will present information followed by a question and answer period.

Students Will Receive Flu Shots Next Week

Students at Gravette Elementary and Upper Elementary schools are scheduled to receive influenza immunizations, Monday, May 9.

Students in Middle School and High School will receive the immunizations on Tuesday, May 10. Consent forms must be signed by parents.

Athletic Boosters Will Meet Monday

The Gravette Athletic Boosters will hold their general monthly meeting Monday, November 9, at 6 p.m. at the High School.

Everyone interested is being encouraged to attend.
